Norman Dean
Club President
I began my photography journey over 30 years ago, initially honing my craft in sports and event photography. In 2017, I discovered my passion for wildlife photography, capturing the beauty of animals both in Australia and around the globe. My greatest joy comes from sharing these experiences with guests on African safaris that I host, whether it’s photographing majestic big cats, observing elephant herds, or admiring vibrant birdlife. By day, I’m a detail-focused programmer, but photography lets me tap into my creative side. I’m really into black and white shots for that timeless vibe and love exploring tiny details with macro photography. It’s a great way to spot and share the little things that usually go unnoticed.

Club Treasurer
I work in the water industry but spend my spare time as an amateur photographer. Photography keeps me sane—mainly because it gives me a reason to be out alone in a paddock at 2 a.m. Between family, work, and the constant hunt for my missing lens cap, I still manage to snap a few decent shots now and then.

Slideshow Co-ordinator
I grew up in the days of film, learning to appreciate the intention and patience behind every frame.
At 21, I picked up my first serious camera, beginning a lifelong journey of curiosity, learning, and growth.
What started as photographing anything I could soon evolved into a natural focus on lifestyle moments and people.

About 12 years ago, I was just snapping photos for fun but wanted to learn what really makes a photo great. Since then, I’ve gotten into macro, wildlife, and landscape photography. It’s a never ending journey.

Janet Edwards
Events Co-ordinator
I’m an amateur photographer who loves trying out different styles, but landscapes are my favourite. Most of my landscape shots happen early in the morning when the world is silent, and nature really takes centre stage. I usually shoot in manual mode because it just feels simpler to me. I recently joined the Forest Lake Photography Club and now enjoy helping organise events for everyone.
